Advent at Pidcoke Baptist Church – A Season of Waiting, Hope, and Light
As the Christmas season approaches, we enter into a special time of reflection and anticipation known as Advent. Beginning four Sundays before Christmas, Advent is a season set apart to prepare our hearts for the celebration of Jesus’ birth.
The word Advent means “coming”—and during this time, we focus not only on the first coming of Christ in Bethlehem but also on His promised return. It’s a season filled with hope, peace, joy, and love, reminding us that even in the darkness, the Light of the world has come—and is coming again.
The Advent Wreath & Candles
Each week of Advent, we light a candle as part of our worship service. Every candle represents a different theme:
- Hope
- Peace
- Joy
- Love
- Christ (lit on Christmas Sunday)
Lighting these candles helps us mark the passage of this sacred season and prepares us spiritually for Christmas. It’s a meaningful tradition for individuals, couples, and families alike.
Be Part of the Tradition
If you or your family would like to take part in our Advent services by lighting a candle and reading a short scripture or devotional, we’d love for you to be involved.
Please see Pastor Don to sign up for one of the five Advent services.
“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
– John 1:5
Let’s walk through this season together, hearts full of expectation and eyes fixed on the true Light—Jesus Christ.
