Grumpy Old Bear!
As we get older, we start getting those aches and pains that can make us focus too much on the "old bod"! Especially when you're subjected to what feels like a mad scientist experiment!
Grumpy Old Bear:
Well, as I got up this morning, without going into all of the details, I was definitely feeling achy and distracted! I tried to figure out what to do my quiet time on? The more I tried to focus, the grumpier I got! I became a Grumpy Old Bear!
Wow - then it hit me!
I realized, in the middle of my "grumpyness," I need to pray! Lord, help me out here!
The Lord responded! Talk about how to deal with "Grumpyness" grumpy man!
The quiet time today simply reflects on drawing near to God in prayer when we are not clear, hurting, or grumpy! It is amazing the transformation that can take place if we simply give it to God!
James 4:7-8
[7] Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. [8] Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

Shining Stars!
Talk about authenticity! There are many great examples in the Bible of folks
that "stuck to their guns" and were true to their faith! Few stood out like Daniel and his friends! What wonderful, authentic examples! In the midst of the toughest challenges, they wisely stay true to their faith in God!! To the point of giving their lives in the most terrifying ways! Eaten by lions and being burned alive!
Shining Stars:
As I did my prayer walk yesterday, one of the things I prayed for was authenticity! As I reflected on a path to authenticity, the thought of being wise and shining like stars comes to mind as noted in Daniel!
Let us shine like stars!
Daniel 12:3
[3] Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever.

The Enemy! | Aug 31, 2026
The Enemy!
On my prayer walk today, l stopped and reflected on the complexity and magnitude of our existence! Sounds pretty deep! The enormity and complexity of it is staggering!
I then thought about what it would be like if death were not in the world and what it would be like if we were not separated from God! Wow - kinda like Jesus returns and those who believed in God were with him!!
Have faith this is coming!
The enemy:
Further, thinking about separation from God, our enemy and my message came to mind. We still contend with him! It is so important that we stay aware of his schemes!! The world is smothered in his lies!! I believe that as a society, we treat him more as a bad fairytale than the existential threat he is!!
He is very real, and it is more evident that ever if we just open our eyes just a little!
It sounds like a bad movie, but in reality, We must resist him, pray for awareness and protection, and put God at the center of everything!
1 Peter 5:8
[8] Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
James 4:7
[7] Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
1 Peter 5:9
[9] Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.

Pummeled!
We all have those moments in life where we have things happen to us either spiritually? physically or emotionally, that simply knocks the wind out of our sails!
Pummeled:
God says we will have troubles in this world ! It is most important when troubles happen that we press forward in our faith and know that the ultimate victory has already been won through Christ! So when life beats us up and we are feeling Pummeled, there is a crown of life waiting if we persever!
It is one thing to say persever and another one to actually persever! That is why we need to lean into Christ during difficult times! I can definitely attest to the truth that Jesus has got this!!

Muddy Waters! | Aug 29, 2026
Muddy Waters!
I remember when I was getting certified to scuba dive my friend Joe, who is a dive instructor, took us to Lake Travis for our certification dive. Without getting into all the requirements, the dives were great! Even got to see a few fish. The visibility was relative, which I will explain later.
Later on, we took a couple of trips, one being to Costa Rica! Needless to say, compared to my certification dives, Costa Rica was like a wonderland!! I could spend a lot of time talking about all the cool visuals!
Comparing my certification dives to Costa Rica was like comparing "Muddy Waters" to pristine purity! This prompted my quiet time message!
Muddy Waters:
Reflecting on the level of sin acceptance in society today is like looking at the Muddy waters of Lake Travis and thinking they are great! In reality, what we should expect are the clear pristine waters of Costa Rica!! This would be more like the purity God expect!
We have been so desensitized to the "Muddy Waters" of today's world! Let us follow God’s definition of what is pure and dive with perfect visibility!
Psalms 51:10

Steady and Unchanging!
Had a bunch of appointments today, but I still wanted to share one of my Bible app messages!
In an ever-changing, always-moving, constantly-shifting world, we can count on the unchanging nature of God.
Inspired by the Holy Spirit, the author of Hebrews said it like this:
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” Hebrews 13:8 NLT
A title for the three distinct parts, or “Persons” of God, is the Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. And the Son—Jesus Christ—is the purest reflection of the Father, who never changes.
When you unpack the stunning mystery that is God made flesh in the Person of Jesus Christ, you’ll notice that He said audacious things like: “I and the Father are one,” (John 10:30) “Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father,” (John 14:9) and, “Now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began.” (John 17:5)
John described Jesus as the Word: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” (John 1:1)
God said of Himself, “I the Lord do not change...” (Malachi 3:6) This unchanging quality is called the immutability of God.
From generation to generation, God is the immovable rock where we can firmly plant our faith.
God cannot lie. He cannot be unjust. He’s always good. He’s always faithful. He’s fully perfect. He’s self-sufficient. He’s continuously steady and constant, enduring and everlasting.
If your world has been rocked, or if everything around you seems to be shifting, or if it's challenging to tell what is solid rock and what is shifting sand, you can trust in, count on, and place your hope in Jesus.
He’s not only your righteous Savior, but He’s also your unchanging God.

Good morning, my wonderful brothers!
Ostrich Head!
I wake this morning with feelings of comfort as I lay in my bed. I have the blessings of a new day! To be honest, I never thought simply about being alive in the morning much!
My mind would typically be focused on living life and doing things that a physical life requires, like taking care of bills, thinking about work, family needs, property needs and all of the things that consume our time!!
There's that word again - Time!
My perspective on what is most important has changed dramatically over the last couple of years! It has a tendency to do that when you start simply thinking about being alive in the morning!
Given the reflection of simply being alive, what is truly most important comes to mind in my quiet time this morning?
The answer is to put God 1st! Why? - because God tells us to.
Ostrich Head:
When I reflect on the list of things that I use to prioritize, was God at the top of that, really? Being honest with myself, I would have to say no! It is not that I was not saved, but God was simply not where he needed to be - At the center of everything! I was like an ostrich with my head in the dirt, thinking everything was great! In reality, I was simply an "Ostrich Head!"
Really putting God 1st is not as hard as you might think. You simply need to pull your head out of the dirt and see God for who he is! As we actually apply God’s priorities in his word and put love at the top, we truly see that he is everything! The more time we spend with him, the easier it is to see it!
Revelation 1:8
[8] “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”
Colossians 3:1
[1] Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.

Shields! | Aug 26, 2026
Shields!
We had our men's bible study last night, and it was great! Ten men showed up, and you could feel God’s Spirit move as we studied the book of John! What and emphasis on Jesus as God’s son and "The" path to salvation! The study was such a real situation where men were praying for each other, being genuine about our lives, victories, and struggles! You could literally feel the bonds of fellowship and friendship strengthened by the end of our meeting!
Shields:
During our time together, I had what you could call a "Star Trek" moment! It was like hearing Scotty say "captain we need to raise the shields!"
I felt the need to pray God shield us from the enemies schemes and attacks!
It motivated my quiet time to focus on awareness that the enemy does not want us to be successful and will do all that he can to make sure activities like last nights study do not happen! We must always be aware of his schemes and not be discouraged to give up meetings together!
Let us fire some "phasors" and keep our "shields" up by continuing to do studies like the one we had last light and all the other thing God requires of us as part of our walk!

[24] And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, [25] not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

[9] If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,” and you make the Most High your dwelling, [10] no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent. [11] For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; [12] they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.

Hair on Fire! | Aug 25, 2026
Hair on fire!
We all want to stay informed to know what is going on in the world. We want to know what our leaders are doing and stay engaged so we can vote to make sure we have leaders who support justice based on God's law and do what is right by the American people!
Hair on Fire:
As I watched the news after my prayer walk yesterday to "stay informed" I felt so many negative emotions as I watched one unbelievable story after another until I shouted "how can people support this @#!$!!"! It was like my negative emotions were building until I had "hair on fire"! Kim simply said, "Turn off the news if it bothers you that much."
The key word here is "bother"! It is not wrong to stay informed, but as we do it, we must remember to be governed by the Spirit and not the flesh! Let us always remember to put on the full armor of God and not allow our "hair to catch fire!"
Galatians 5:16-17
[16] So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. [17] For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want.
Ephesians 6:11
[11] Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.
We all want to stay informed to know what is going on in the world. We want to know what our leaders are doing and stay engaged so we can vote to make sure we have leaders who support justice based on God's law and do what is right by the American people!

Beyond the door! | Aug 24, 2026
Beyond the door!
I think about our Sunday service today and reflect on Pastor's call to respond! It is our greatest hope that anyone lost would respond to accept Christ!
As we stood and sang our song of response, I reflected on a story I heard about a pastor that had left a conference or seminar on the east coast and got into a terrible accident and was pronounced dead at the scene. It just so happened that a fellow pastor from the seminar was at the scene, and when he went to pray for him, he found out he was alive!
The reason I was reflecting on this accident during response -
As the pastor in the accident recalled when he was out and pinned in the car! He remembered a great light, not a blinding light but one that added clarity! He also recalled meeting people he had known that had passed away. He recounted as he moved towards the light that there was an overwhelming euphoria and peace that grew the closer he moved towards the light! He believed he was on the verge of entering heaven before he was pulled back! He did not want to come back!!
Beyond the door:
= As I reflected during the response time, I envisioned a door behind the pastor, and there was a key available to anyone who would respond! The key is simply the acceptance of Jesus as the savior! I also envisioned the very light I spoke of earlier "beyond the door"! This should motivate us to get that key to as many folks as possible! =

Lenses!
I was talking to Kim yesterday, and she had good input on how we perceive what is going on around us? How we view situations, people, things, places, and all that we deal with in life. We can choose to see the way the world tries to make us see or the way God wants us to see through the lens he provides through his word?
Lenses:
It is like there are two different types of lenses - binocular lenses that see far and clear and a klidascope lenses, which simply reveal illusions!
When we need to see clearly as evil starts to come at us, we will need God's binoculars and not the enemies' kilidiscope that intentionally blinds us to the coming evil! The enemy makes things look great until it is too late, so let us use God's "lenses"!
Isaiah 30:21
[21] Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”
Psalms 119:105
[105] Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.

Action Heros!
I reflect this morning on the challenges we face in this life and see fear, anger, illness, immortality, lawlessness, bitterness, jealousy ... and all of the things that strive to pull us down and give the enemy victory! There are so many things that drive these challenges!
Action Heros:
These challenges can be like being the hero in an action movie where the hero is beaten and battered and can barely stand after onslaught! Then you see, hear, and feel it! It is the light, sound, and peace of our Saviors voice that overrides the turmoil and provides assurance of an unquenchable love and peace! All of the challenges fade away as our faith provides us with an undeniable hope and victory through the power of the spirit!
I guess you can say that our faith can make us action heros!
2 Timothy 1:7 [7] For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.
Acts 1:8 NIV [8] But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

As I sit here and wait for Kim at the eye doctor, I got to talk to a lady waiting on her husband to complete his appointment. We had a pleasant conversation about our faith and not so pleasant conversation about struggles her family had with cancer! I was very happy I got to talk to her and encourage her!
My first impression was she would not be open to talk, which led me to my quiet time message this morning.
Assumptions!
Reflecting on my initial thoughts about how she would respond made me realize I was making an incorrect judgment about her!
Assumptions:
Let us not be swayed by appearances or make judgments on assumptions! Let us walk the extra mile and always strive to be of good influence!

Best Lights!
We meet so many wonderful people in life but there are few that become our best friends. I have been blessed with several! Today, for my quiet time, I want to reflect on two who I lost contact with, but God, in his faithfulness, brought them back into my life!
Best Lights:
I could type for quite a while speaking of my friends, but to keep this message reasonable, I will simply say Barry and Tom, my USAF friends, are truly on the right path!
Through my reflections, I have been able to catch up and have been blessed to see how wonderfully God has moved in their lives! They have gone from my best friends to some of my "Best Lights"
Luke 11:33

Influential!
I think back into my past when I was at college and living in the dorm at Texas Tech in the summer of 1981 after being honorably discharged from the Airforce. I was a freshman with some credits from the USAF starting my EE degree courses! I met a guy named Jerry Crawley. He was working on his masters in EE and was affiliated with IEEE and a Christian group called the Navigators!I can still picture Jerry's face in my mind because he formally led me to Christ! Though entrenched as an enslaved student of the EE department, I had many great early faith memories from those days along with my baptism!
I have to admit that the enemy laid many traps for me that I foolishly walked into but can say that God was faithful when I was not, so I never lost my faith in his salvation!
There were also many great saints that I met during my Christian walk that I pray for daily!
Influential:
For my quiet time, I reflect on a couple of saints that come to the top in terms of influence! I do this as I reflect on what God’s Word says about such folks! I already mentioned Jerry from college. I add a couple of men we all know. Pastor Don and Gary! Sorry brothers, but I can't keep you out of this reflection!
In my walk, I always felt like a step away from where God wanted me to be but could not quite get there, even after recommiting my life and meeting my wonderful wife Kim over 20 years ago! Through the moving of God spirit and great influential fellowship with Pastor and Gary, especially during or prayer time together and everything I have been going through, I feel much closer to God than ever! Let us pray for and be thankful for all who are influential for Christ in our lives!

[2] Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve; [3] not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock. Rude Awakenings!
During my Chemo treatment, there were a low number of folks getting treatment, so I got to share with and encourage the staff member helping me. Her name is Andria. I enjoyed getting to share my new song lyrics with her, and we talked about praise and worship, camping, and many other things. I found out she was on her church worship team, so we talked about Christ openly in the office!
Rude Awakenings:
During our conversations, she brought up a camping trip where she got to do horseback riding on trail in the Rockies. One night, after eating around and enjoying the fire, someone forgot to secure the food properly, and the bears showed up in the night. She said she didn't get much sleep that night after being abruptly awakened by bears foraging outside her tent!
Anyway, if you read my previous quiet time about Sasquash, you know what is coming?
When I went hiking and camping in the Santa Fe national forest with my friend Roland from college, Roland decided one night to sleep out of the tent under the stars. That night , Sasquash and I were awakened by the sound of Roland being startled awake saying "hey! - hey! - hey! - hey!" I asked him loudly,"What was going on," and all he could say was,"Darn goat!" When he woke up, the goat's mouth was right over his face, sniffing. Being startled so abruptly, well, you can imagine what happened!" I don't know who was more frightened, Roland or the Goat! It still makes me laugh to this day!
Anyway, both stories have one key point in common? The rules we not followed. In these mountains - sleep in your tent and secure food!
These stories prompted me to reflect on commandments and laws we need to follow that come from our God! Remember, Jesus did not come to abolish the law but to fulfill it and that no one is without sin! So let us be aware of what is right and strive daily to better do what is right! If we fail, let us repent and keep running the race! Let us not have "Rude Awakenings!"

Good evening, my brothers!
Choices!
It is easy to think about examples for good choices referencing food. Do I choose the cake donut or the vegetables?
There are so many examples of choices when it is not so clear. My point in this quiet time is that we should always make the choice based on what God would have us do. I brought it up before, but reflect on it again - WWJD!

Was not planning a quiet time message today because of the men's breakfast but God gave me one anyway!
Coincidence!
This morning, we had a great men's breakfast with the Pidcoke Methodist brothers at our church. As always, the fellowship was fantastic!
After eating, I was blessed to do a biblical message! I used one of my quiet times that referenced those special moments in our walk where God shows up in powerful ways! I called it Glimpses! You can read it in "Quiet Time Reflections" on the church website!
Coincidence:
There were many great spiritual moments the men shared, where God really showed up for them!
Anyway, I got home and had a great visit from our son-in-law's parents. They had brought Kim's BDay gift they were not able to give during the her party. Right after they left, I walked out onto the porch and saw this beautiful cloud with sun rays bursting through. I took a picture, and when I reviewed it, I was shocked to see Jesus's face in the middle of it!

King of the forest!
I reflect back on childhood and remember the fantasy movie "The Wizard of OZ" and the "Cowardly Lion." He would boast, but when the "rubber met the road," he would turn tail and run! He did not portray the "King of the forest" well.
King of the forest:
Reflecting on courage, Paul teaches us to be courageous in his message to the Corinthians. He tells them to stand strong in their faith and not to be swayed to do things contrary to his teachings!
Today, I feel like we live in a deadly jungle full of the enemie's traps! It's easy to get caught if we are not continually on guard! Be strong and resist the enemy, and he will flee!! Truly become the "King of the forest" through our strength in Christ!

Glimpses! | Aug 13, 2026
Glimpses!
As I reflect on my Christian walk this morning, I focus on the times of clarity! These are times when God's peace feels so real! Times when Joy and the clarity of God's love during prayer or praise are overwhelming and come out of nowhere! Times when the complexity of God’s creation leads to the undisputed answer of his existence! Times when God's simple plan of love hits me with such clarity! Times when God's reality is like a warm blanket.
Glimpses:
I believe and truly feel God is ever present and all-knowing and all-powerful! He is the essence of LOVE!!! I believe these moments I speak of are simply God loving us so much that he needs to give us a hug! I believe during these moments, we just get a glimpse of eternity with God! God is love, and his plan for our salvation is the only thing that makes sense! God is so... real!!!!

Pale Face!
I remember when training for our basketball season in high school, we had many drills we would do. These drills went on for weeks before we would even touch a basketball! It was all part of our coaches method to help us become a team. To encourage and push each other to become better physically and to be like-minded.
Pale Face:
There was one drill in particular called "The Indian Drill" that stuck out! The entire team would start running around the court on the outside in single-file at a decent pace. The person in the front would have to sprint around the court to catch up to the back of the group! There was a lot of encouragement going on to get this drill over with! The drill was not over until all had sprinted! I would not call when my turn came a sprint. I would be so tired after this that the blood was literally drained from my face. I literally had a "Pale Face."
This quiet time was inspired by our men's meeting last night. We met and had great fellowship, shared God's word, and encouraged each other to grow and be disciplined in our christian walk!
We truly are part of God’s team, and my prayer is that we all become a "Pale Face" for Christ!

[24] And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, [25] not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

There was one drill in particular called "The Indian Drill" that stuck out! The entire team would start running around the court on the outside in single-file at a decent pace. The person in the front would have to sprint around the court to catch up to the back of the group! There was a lot of encouragement going on to get this drill over with! The drill was not over until all had sprinted! I would not call when my turn came a sprint. I would be so tired after this that the blood was literally drained from my face. I literally had a "Pale Face."
This quiet time was inspired by our men's meeting last night. We met and had great fellowship, shared God's word, and encouraged each other to grow and be disciplined in our christian walk!
We truly are part of God’s team, and my prayer is that we all become a "Pale Face" for Christ!

[23] Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. [24] And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, [25] not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

The boy in the window!
I am not sure where to start with this quiet time as it is about the most important topic! JESUS!
There is a memory of my childhood that is cloudy but has persisted my entire life. God is faithful!
The boy in the window:
I remember one of the times we went to church with my parents. I was maybe 5 or 6 years old, and I went to Sunday School. We did not play games but would read stories. This particular Sunday, we read a story about a little boy who was sick and his parents were very sad! The little boy would always try to make his parents smile when they came to his room. Anyway, they had taught him about Jesus and would talk to him often about Jesus and how much he loved us! One night, the boy heard someone calling him to come out and play in the back, yard. The little boy went to the window and saw Jesus dressed in white waving for him to come. The boy did not want to leave as it would make his parents sad if he was not there when they woke up. This went on for several nights until one evening, his parents with smiles told him it would be ok if he went with Jesus! That night he went out to play!
This story has stuck with me my entire life! I may be fuzzy on many specifics but I always remember the key message that Jesus is always there and when the time comes we will go out and be with him!!
We do not know the day our time God will call us home so let us live to let everyone know that Jesus is waiting for us to be with him just outside the window!
I get to do special music this Sunday. My selection will be the one I wrote for Jesus. It is called "Jesus"!

Opened Eyes!
During my quiet time walks, God helps me take the focus of my issues!
Our lives are not always perfect. The Lord said we would have trouble in this life. True, but troubles should not be our focus.
Opened Eyes:
I can honestly say that I understand better what God promise of prosperity is if we have opened eyes!
I could sit here and reflect on all my issues and worry, fear, and fret, or I could focus on the truly wonderful things God has prospered me with and not just money and things! Money and things are useless if we can't share them with the ones we love!
I am referring to living life as God wants us to! Trusting in God! I use Kim's birthday party as an example! Truly a blesses day with family and friends! A glimpse of what God has in store!
The love is reflected in the photos!

The Wild Blue Yonder!
I remember when I joined the Airforce and was leaving home for the 1st time! I leaned against the window of the commercial jet that was flying me to Texas for basic training. It was my 1st flight. I remember the rolling clouds, landscapes, and clusters of towns below! There was excitement and purpose that consumed my thoughts. Life was new and fresh. I felt renewed and alive! I was flying off into "The Wild Blue Yonder!
This brings me to my quiet time message. Just as I felt alive and renewed going on my 1st big adventure with the Airforce, God had something much greater in store for me. Salvation and true renewal!
If I reflect on the renewal God brought to my life, there really are no life experiences that compare. Even my 1st trip from home!
The Wild Blue Yonder:
Once in Christ, there is a continual renewal and growth process! The older I get, the better it is. To experience it, we must live for him daily! This is so much more of a blessing than you might think! It is truly an uplifting flight into "The Wild Blue Yonder."
2 Corinthians 4:16-17
[16] Therefore, we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. [17] For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.

Hiking with Sasquash!
When I was in college, my friend Roland and I decided to go hiking and camping after our summer session classes in August. We went to the Santa Fe national forest in New Mexico and went up to Mt Baldy and across the saddle to Mt Touch! We had many good memories. We took my roommate's dog Sasquash with us! I will simply say he was a big dog!

Anyway, we had many good memories on the trip. Roland actually got kissed by a mountain goat on the trip, but that's another quiet time message!
Breath taking splendor!
The key takeaway from this trip emphasizes my quiet time this morning! God created these wonderful works of perfection for us!! The panoramic views, the majesty of the mountains, forests, and night skies were all breathtaking! A wonderful example of God’s creation!
Sometimes, we can see a little clearer on the mountain tops! Even if Sasquash is sitting next to us!

[3] When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, [4] what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?

My Big Toe!
Reflecting back on my camping days when younger, we used to cliff dive. Well, for me, it was more like jumping. During one of my climbs up the cliff, I fell backward when grabbing a loose rock. The rock hit my big toe on the way down! You don't think about your big toe that much, but that all changed for me that day!
My Big Toe:
This brings me to my quiet time, which focuses on the body of Christ and how important each member is! My point is you don't think about the big toe until it is hurting. Once it starts to hurt, it is all you think about!!
My point is that every member of the church has great value and should never be taken for granted! If they suffer, we all suffer, and if they rejoice, we all can rejoice!
Again, you don't think much about the big toe until it is smashed by a rock!

Power Required!
As we testify about our faith in Christ, we pray that the spirit works in the folks who hear about our faith to accept Jesus as the savior!
I can think about all of the great arguments trying to convince people about Christ, but they will always fall short without the spirit's power!
Power Required:
Even when the Jewish leaders had the man that had been blind since birth testify about the undisputed reality of having his sight restored, the leaders did not accept Jesus as the savior as noted in John 9:30-34!
My point is that we can testify about all of the great things our faith in Christ has delivered, but it is the power of the spirit that will convict and change hearts!!
Let us do what we can through our life and faith to convince about the reality of Christ and pray for the power of the spirit to work!
If Jesus is not accepted, the power of the spirit is absent!
John 9:30-34
[30] The man answered, “Now that is remarkable! You don’t know where he comes from, yet he opened my eyes. [31] We know that God does not listen to sinners. He listens to the godly person who does his will. [32] Nobody has ever heard of opening the eyes of a man born blind. [33] If this man were not from God, he could do nothing.” [34] To this they replied, “You were steeped in sin at birth; how dare you lecture us!” And they threw him out.

What Living Well Looks Like
If you’re a good athlete, it shows every time you compete. If you’re a fantastic cook, the truth comes out in the kitchen. If you have a brilliant mind, you can’t help but solve problems. If you have a stunning voice, such talent can’t stay hidden.
We might present ourselves a certain way, but who we are will eventually come out. This is why James encourages Christians to prove who they are through the way they live. To prove something simply means to show that it’s true.
Do you say that you trust God? Prove it by starting your day with a genuine confidence in Him.
Do you say that you love your neighbor? Show it by going out of your way to notice, serve, and honor the people around you.
Do you call yourself a follower of Jesus? Prove it by living your life in a way that reflects His heart.
This doesn’t mean you’ll be perfect, but it does mean that even when you mess up, you will still try to make things right. And not because you must work for God’s favor or earn His love, but because your actions reveal what is happening inside of you. As Jesus said in Luke 6:45, “… What you say flows from what is in your heart.”
So, how can we live an honorable life? By doing good works with the humility that comes from wisdom. Not worldly wisdom, but godly wisdom. When we stick close to God, who invented wisdom, He transforms us from the inside out.
So if you claim to be wise and understand God’s ways, prove it by the way you live. And when questions arise—go to the One who has answers. Even on the most overwhelming of days, trust that God is by your side.
Today, ask yourself: “Do my thoughts match what people see on the outside?” Then, ask God: “Show me how to do what You’ve called me to do, and be who You’ve called me to be.”

Touching the Fence!
As part of my day, I do my prayer walks in the early evening right before sunset. I set several goals while walking!
1) Specific prayer for each member of PBC! 2) Prayer for folks on our prayer list and specific needs! 3) Prayers for PMC, 1st Baptist CCove, and churches around the area, state, country, and the world! 4) Prayer for family and all of my present and past friends! 5) Prayer for those who have had a positive influence on my growth as a Christian! There are so many wonderful folks! 6) Prayer for our leaders and against those who support lawlessness and immortality for the sake of power! 7) Any special prayers that come to mind! 8) Pray for and focus on a quiet time message! 9) Take a prayer walk photo! 10) Touching the fence at least 4 times!
Touching the Fence:
My key point in this quiet time is that we need to set goals that strengthen us in our Christian walk and that help us to press toward the prize! We also need to be consistent with our goals! Touching the Fence 4 times was key to completing 1.5 miles along with all the critical prayers!

I woke yesterday morning feeling a little bit like "road kill"!
Key reflection!
The sad part is, nine times out of ten, it is the decisions I make that impacted the way I feel!
Anyway, as I got my day going, the prayer of renewal was my focus. God is faithful!
Renewed:
As I pushed through the way I felt yesterday, with the prayer of renewal on my mind, I ended up having a productive day and felt much better by its end!
As we go through our challenges in life, it is amazing how God keeps his promises!

Closed Eyes!
Tough quiet time today!
As I woke this morning, I was thinking of my cousins husband Phillip(Phil)?
I did not know a lot about him other than he was in the service, served in Alaska, which he loved, and was happily married to Carol, my mom's brother's daughter!
Anyway, Phil died of cancer a while back, and I recently learned that Carol now has cancer! I have not talked to Carol for quite a while, but I plan on reaching out this week.
Closed Eyes:
My point in all of this is indifference! We get so caught up in our lives sometimes that it takes a 2x4 upside the head to get us to open our "closed eyes" and focus on what is most important.
The people around us are like pure gold!! This is the way God sees them! So let us fight against indifference and see the gold that is right in front of us!!

[1] See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.

Tough quiet time today!
As I woke this morning, I was thinking of my cousins husband Phillip(Phil)?
I did not know a lot about him other than he was in the service, served in Alaska, which he loved, and was happily married to Carol, my mom's brother's daughter!
Anyway, Phil died of cancer a while back, and I recently learned that Carol now has cancer! I have not talked to Carol for quite a while, but I plan on reaching out this week.
Closed Eyes:
My point in all of this is indifference! We get so caught up in our lives sometimes that it takes a 2x4 upside the head to get us to open our "closed eyes" and focus on what is most important.
The people around us are like pure gold!! This is the way God sees them! So let us fight against indifference and see the gold that is right in front of us!!
1 John 3:1

Much More!
During my prayer walk yesterday, plus when I woke this morning, I was reminded how weak and limited we can be at times. Especially as we get older.
I was painfully reminded of my weakness during my prayer walk as I struggled with a hurting back due to a dumb decision to wrestle aggressively with a
60-pound bag chicken feed the day before!
Much More:
I reflected on my limitations this morning and was reminded again that we serve a God that makes us strong in our weakness and can do immeasurably more than we ask as noted in Ephesians 3 : 20-21!
Added Prayer:
God, please use us to influence folks for your kingdom and salvation and help us not to be a burden in any affliction. I trust that you can "knock it out of the park" for us !! You can do immeasurably more than we ask!!
May we truly reflect on an all-powerful, eternal, and infinite God and know that he can do "Much More" than we can imagine!

Hanging Like a Monkey!
This morning's quiet time was inspired by my brother Kenn's comment to "hang in there."
I usually reply, kidding, that I am "hanging like a monkey"!
This inspired my quiet time.
I liken the tree to a sanctuary like our Lord Jesus Christ is our sanctuary!
There are so many temptations in life that sometimes it feels like we find ourselves hanging from a tree limb like a monkey during a raging storm with one arm! We may even succumb and get knocked off our branch into the wild jungle below because of the choices we make!
Hanging Like a Monkey:
Regardless of where we find ourselves, either hanging or knocked off, we must get back to our sanctuary, which is our Lord Jesus Christ, and stop "hanging like a monkey"!
The key thing to remember, as we truly fight the temptations of this world, is that we have a forgiving and loving God! Trust in God's promise of forgiveness as we strive to do what is right, do not be self condemning, for all have sinned!
1 John 1:9-10

Cracking Mirrors!
In my walk with Christ, I have to admit that I never felt I qualified to be like Christ! What can I do? I felt there was something always holding me back! I had the thought that if I looked in the mirror and thought "Christ Like" that it would crack right down the middle!
Later in life, I finally found out it was not something but someone who was holding me back!
I am going to get that guy!
I found out that his name is Mike Daugherty! He is a tall guy about 6'8" and attends Podcoke Baptist Church!
Oooo... that guy is me.
You see, the problem was in using the word I. What can I do to become exactly like Christ? The answer is there is nothing I can do. But, praise be to God, Christ already did the work for us!

Smokey Face!
Thinking back on those times where we learn from our experiences in my quiet time, there is one in particular that always sticks out.
When I was younger and still in high school, my two cousins from Cleveland would come and stay with us in the summer. There were many good memorable times! With my brother Ron, we were an awesome 4-some on the sandlot basketball court! We also had many memorable adventures on my grandma mini's old farm!
Smokey Face:
We definitely had our days of mischief, however. One day, when we were getting ready to take a hike on the farm, one of us decided to raid my grandmother's cigarette pack! Will not mention any names.
Anyway, as we walked to the old farm, there was all this talk about how great the effects of cigarettes were. To make a short story long, I took my first puff, which I did not like and was about to pass it on when one of my cousins said "no you really need to inhale! " I became "Smokey Face" with many tears! I coughed for like 5 minutes before I could even speak and then started to turn a light shade of blue! Fortunately, the experience ruined me on smoking! Once I could speak, my comments were no good!
So, the lesson in all of this is experience can be a tough teacher! It is always much better to listen to and then adhere to wise advice! I always say there are two types of wisdom, one you learn from godly advice and one you learn from experience!

A breath!
This morning, I reflect on mortality and what God says about how brief life is. In an instant, it is over. In on my own life, I can understand what my mother and grandmother used to say about how quickly we would be their age.
A breath:
I can honestly say that, as I try to make God’s priorities my own, relationships are most important! 1st with God and 2nd with those around us!
Things, money, notaryity, power, vanity, or selfish ambition should not be a priority. All of these things are fleeting and lead to emptyness!
Let us use our breath influencing for God's kingdom by living for love. 1st for God and 2nd for those around us!
Psalms 103:15-18
[15] The life of mortals is like grass, they flourish like a flower of the field; [16] the wind blows over it and it is gone, and its place remembers it no more. Comfortable! | Jul 26, 2026
Comfortable!
Most folks have those special memories of warmth and comfort. A warm fire on a cold night, the closeness of a loved one as they hold or hug you, the security of a loving home, friends you can count on, and so many more examples.
Comfortable:
In my quiet time, as I think about comfort, I reflect on the warmth of a loving creator and the God of all comfort.
On my prayer walks, one of the key things I can count on as I converse, listen, and lean into God is his comfort! So often, as I ask God to help me in my ministry and ask for his guidance, I can feel the awesome comfort and warmth of his presence!
As we deal with issues in this life, some overwhelming, let us remember God will give us comfort. Let us just lean into God! Also, let us comfort those around us with the comfort we ourselves receive!

Precipice! | Jul 25, 2026
Precipice!
When I think of judgment for some reason, the thought of an infinitely high cliff comes to mind. Above the cliff is heaven, and below is separation from God. This brings the fear of God into perspective!
Precipice:
This is a tough message!
All I can think of is that you do not want to be on the precipice about to be separated from God for eternity!! We will not want to see anyone in that position!! I do not care who they are! Even our worst enemy! What is it they have done in comparison to eternity and eternal separation from God!!!
Let us always be compassionate to those who do not know Christ as Savior with the precipice in mind!!!
Father, may we represent you well and with passion speak of Christ's salvation for sake of the lost!!

[14] Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. [15] Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.

Relative!
When we compare something, it is typically to something relative!
Often, I think of my life in comparison to others! Not out of want or jealousy but for perspective! Like comparing my life and resources to Elon Musk? The opposite is comparing my life to a poor starving child in Africa?
The later comparison is what I want to focus on!!
We should always keep the most needy in focus when thinking about our own lives! 1st to be thankful and 2nd to help as we can! Tithe and missionary support come to mind!
Relative:
We must keep in mind that God loves us all equally and does not show favoritism! Be it Elon Musk or a starving child in Africa, God does not discriminate!
In reality, there have been times I have gone along with the crowd and treated folks differently because of status or condition! Also, I felt convinced when I did!
Let us keep God’s commands about treating folks equal in perspective when dealing with all people. Just as we would show compassion and love for Elon, let us do the same for the starving child in Africa! We have to transcend what the world would do!!!
James 2:2-4
[2] Suppose a man comes into your meeting wearing a gold ring and fine clothes, and a poor man in filthy old clothes also comes in. [3] If you show special attention to the man wearing fine clothes and say, “Here’s a good seat for you,” but say to the poor man, “You stand there” or “Sit on the floor by my feet,” [4] have you not discriminated among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts?

What we need!
I was putting my shoes on and all energized yesterday to do a walk! I always look forward to them because it helps me to get the old body going! Kinda like the old cars you physically had to crank to get them started!
Anyway, I grabbed my Walking Stick and swing open the door and am met with a wave of heat! It was like opening an oven door!
Well, I did not get what I wanted! I could not go for a walk! Bummer!
As I thought about getting what I wanted this morning, it led me to my quiet time!
What we need:
Kim reminds me regularly when shopping to get what you need, not what you want! I have to admit there have been too many times at the cash register the "getting what I want" rings out very loud!!
God tells us not to worry! He will provide what we need!

Staying in the fight!
You ever think that no matter how hard you try, you just can't seem to overcome the many obstacles that are thrown at us in this world!
The truthful answer is that as Christians, there is hope in Christ, and the ultimate victory will be ours!
Truthful thought!
I know in the past there have been times these words about our victory fall flat in my heart because circumstances really hit home! I just experienced this in the morning!
This is when we need to remember it is not about emotions or feelings but the simple truth in Christ!
So the answer is, as Paul states, we need to press forward and persist in keeping the faith!
Staying in the fight:
I have learned that overcoming our obstacles in the midst of doubt, guilt, fear, or whatever else may be in our way will build our faith and make us stronger! Persistence in trials really does make us stronger!
Be Encouraged -
The joy and benefits of the Christian life will come, and we will look back and see God's great works and blessings as we press forward and stay in the fight!!
James 1:12
[12] Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.

It is late at night, and you are tired and just finished getting ready for bed. You say your prayers, pull the blanket up, and close your eyes!

This leads me to my morning quiet time!
The enemy is like the "cricket in the room." He is always trying to steal our peace and separate us from God! Let us not allow evil a foothold! Let us listen to our Lord’s instruction, be aware of the enemies schemes, and push back against evil! Let us deal with our "crickets, " and with God’s guidance, keep our peace and not be overcome by evil!
Romans 12:21
[21] Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
Psalms 34:14
[14] Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.
Psalms 37:27
[27] Turn from evil and do good; then you will dwell in the land forever.

It is late at night, and you are tired and just finished getting ready for bed. You say your prayers, pull the blanket up, and close your eyes!

I can only imagine what my eyes will see when your face is before me? The 1st line of one of my favorite praise songs to sing rings out in my head as I reflect on my prayers to our God last night! Our God! What an awesome thought!
There is a comfort like a warm blanket or a warm fire on a cold night / ! Like a refreshing rain in the desert ! I could go on! How can we comprehend a loving creator like our God! The God of all comfort! Let that sink into your core as you go about your day!!!

Have you ever looked for the perfect place or the perfect thing or that perfect person and how you felt after being successful in finding?
Wow!! I found it!!
Magnify that feel 10x, and it is what you will get seeking and finding God! God has promised we will find him if we seek, and he will not abandon us!
Be intentional!!
Make seeking God intentional! It's not about waiting for a feeling or event! You have to actively seek! Use your resources! The Bible, those with wisdom, experience and knowledge, fellowship... and so on!!
I have grown more in my faith these last 5 years than in the previous 20 as God is answering my prayer not to be a weak saint! I believe some of my stuffing is still on the floor!
I still feel as if I have much more weakness to eliminate, but I have to say a key element in my growth is an increased desire to seek God!

Sometimes, we just need to pray for God's protection and guidance and then just sit in silence and know God is with us! There is nothing we need to say or do!!
Sometimes, after the noise and craziness of life, we just need God to take control and climb into the back seat and let him drive! Actually, it should be this way all the time!
That is the way I felt last night! It was a good day, but my head was ringing, and I was in a fog and very tired !

I simply laid down in bed with a quick prayer and said "God you have got this," and went to sleep!

The family of God!
Saturday was a busy day, especially for Kim, as we prepared for the arrival of our daughter and family from Mississippi! We were also blessed as our daughter, niece, and son-in-law came up from Liberty Hill Tx to join in on the preparation! Also, I got to sync a little with my brothers in preparation!
Our daughter and family showed up late on Saturday with much love and greetings! Even got to see my brother Keith that evening while sharing a ride in my son-in-law's new toy!!
The family of God!
As I reflected on family, today's quiet time message hit me! The church was coming together for more good fellowship!!
Awesome fellowship!
I left the house early Sunday morning ! I was blessed to do special music and excited knowing the family would be there!
I arrived at our church building and was met by the smiling face of our pastor! During my setup at church, the church family continued to pour in!
Anyway, it dawned on me as all of my church family grew around me on Sunday, including my visiting family, that this is what God intended when we speak of "The family of God"!
Only one word could describe it - "Loving"
Interestingly, I sang "I can only imagine" on Sunday! Imagine what it will be like when the entire "Family of God" gets together!

Busy day tomorrow with family coming so sending this out tonight!

I remember when I was in high school at our house in WVa. It was a lazy Saturday, and mom, brother, and I we were watching TV when my little brother ran into the house and earnestly told me the garage was on fire!
I went outside thinking I could put out the fire? Wrong! -- The entire back of our 4 car garage was ablaze! It was like a liquid fire - like Napalm! Fortunately, the fire department responded quickly and put out the fire!
Anyway, we found out later that my youngest brothers little friend had matches, and they were throwing them into some newspaper stuffed in the vent fan in the back. The vent was next to a shelf of paint cans and gasoline
Napalm mouth:
The thought of this event made me think about the tongue and how a little spark from the mouth can light someone's world on fire! The correct word to use is gossip! Gossip is like verbal napalm!
Let us not be a Napalm mouth!!
Let us do as God wills and tame the tongue to speak truthfully and with wisdom!

Well - I woke this morning, and the old blood sugar was sinking low! Groggy faced, I rolled out of bed and thought, I need a little sugar?
Then it dawned on me that Kim had made some oatmeal fudge cookies!
Anyway, my demeanor changed, and I was off to the kitchen! Normally, I don't get to eat these!
As I was eating the wonderful oatmeal fudge cookie, my quiet time dawned on me! This oatmeal fudge cookie supprise was like a small sample of what God has in store for us!!
We have assured hope in Christ, and sometimes, in this world , we can experience an example - a small taste of the good stuff Christ has in store for us! Like the unexpected oatmeal fudge cookie!! !

Well, I took one of my post Chemo pills last night, and it kicked me in the pants so hard that I am still very drowsy ! Perfect lead in to my brief half awake quiet time!

God's rest and his intent that we should always take a day of rest from our labors!
So, as we press forward in our wonderful adventure with our Lord, let us remember our rest so that we can be recharged for our adventures with God!

For most of us, the first thing we look at in the morning is our clock! Sometimes, smashing the clock comes to mind.
As we rub our eyes they next thing that usually comes to mind is or schedule! It could involve work, family, key meetings, or projects for the day! Most of it rapped up in routine!
I felt moved in my quiet time to think about time as a key part of our giving and ways we can give and help propagate God’s truths and our faith as part of our routine! There are many ways you can give and do it in our lord's name so folks know where it is coming from!
Pray about how we can give some of our time as part of our daily routines back to God!!
Always remember, you can't out give God!!
Also!
Though giving our Tithe is very important and a key part of the life blood of our church, giving of our time can be just as important!

[7] Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

Figured I would to a quiet time this evening as I will be busy in the morning! Memorial Day made me think of my service time in Korea!
Truths!
I remember when I was in Korea, there was a truth about what the US did for the Korean people during the Korean War!! You could see the appreciation on the older generations' faces! There was such real gratitude!
For the younger generation, this appreciation was absent!
I always wondered why such a separation in attitudes?
Ultimately, the answer was in truth! The younger generation simply did not receive the truth that was passed down and take it to heart!
Truths:
Let us reflect Christ!
My key point is that we have the ultimate truths to a good life and eternal salvation in Christ! If we allow these truths to be choked out and do a poor job of passing them on, we can't expect the next generation to spread the most important truths of all very well!
Let us reflect God’s Truths with love and passion and work diligently to help the next generation understand their importance!!!

[31] To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. [32] Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

Live Empowered!
Imagine God’s Spirit hovering over the face of the earth...
Everything is dark and without form until God breathes out the words, “Let there be light.” In an instant, everything changes. The light pierces the darkness, and what was once invisible is now seen clearly. This is what God’s Spirit does. He is always near—bringing light to what was once covered in darkness.
The Holy Spirit is available to anyone who becomes a follower of Jesus, empowering them to live out the calling God has placed on them.
And what has Jesus called His followers to do? To love God, love others, and make disciples.
Jesus’ first disciples wanted Him to stay and restore the kingdom of Israel. But in Acts 1, Jesus hints that His Kingdom wasn’t what they were imagining. His Kingdom would continue throughout history by the power of the Holy Spirit and the continual testimony of His disciples.
The Holy Spirit is a gift from our heavenly Father that helps us live in a way that honors God and reflects His character. When we allow the Holy Spirit to shape us, He transforms the ways we think and act.
It’s the Holy Spirit who empowers us to make Jesus known throughout the world.
For this reason, living a Spirit-filled life requires intentionally seeking God every day. It’s through intentional time with God that we discover how to make disciples. Then, as we go through life, the Holy Spirit will help us joyfully and boldly make Jesus known to the people He places around us. He will give us the insight, discernment, and courage we need to show Jesus’ love to others.
So right now, take a few moments and thank Jesus for the gift of His Holy Spirit. Then, invite the Holy Spirit to come and change the way you think and act. Spend some time in silent reflection, and allow the Holy Spirit to bring to mind byone or two people that you can share Jesus’ love with today.

Imagine God’s Spirit hovering over the face of the earth...
Everything is dark and without form until God breathes out the words, “Let there be light.” In an instant, everything changes. The light pierces the darkness, and what was once invisible is now seen clearly. This is what God’s Spirit does. He is always near—bringing light to what was once covered in darkness.
The Holy Spirit is available to anyone who becomes a follower of Jesus, empowering them to live out the calling God has placed on them.
And what has Jesus called His followers to do? To love God, love others, and make disciples.
Jesus’ first disciples wanted Him to stay and restore the kingdom of Israel. But in Acts 1, Jesus hints that His Kingdom wasn’t what they were imagining. His Kingdom would continue throughout history by the power of the Holy Spirit and the continual testimony of His disciples.
The Holy Spirit is a gift from our heavenly Father that helps us live in a way that honors God and reflects His character. When we allow the Holy Spirit to shape us, He transforms the ways we think and act.
It’s the Holy Spirit who empowers us to make Jesus known throughout the world.
For this reason, living a Spirit-filled life requires intentionally seeking God every day. It’s through intentional time with God that we discover how to make disciples. Then, as we go through life, the Holy Spirit will help us joyfully and boldly make Jesus known to the people He places around us. He will give us the insight, discernment, and courage we need to show Jesus’ love to others.
So right now, take a few moments and thank Jesus for the gift of His Holy Spirit. Then, invite the Holy Spirit to come and change the way you think and act. Spend some time in silent reflection, and allow the Holy Spirit to bring to mind byone or two people that you can share Jesus’ love with today.

Good evening, my brothers!
Sending this quiet time this evening as not sure what my state will be in the morning!
The Light of Prayer!
I was feeling kinda worn the other day and walked out onto my porch! It was hot and the sun was bright! I sat in one of the chairs and looked out on the field and trees below and just asked God for peace!
The Light of Prayer:
God answered! I could really feel his peace in the moment, and all distractions fled! I looked at the tree leaves nearby, and there was a shimmering light on all of them!! Truly "The Light of Prayer".
The enemy distracts, but God delivers!
This brings to mind our prayer times every 1st and 3rd Sundays before Sunday School! This time has been very special to me! I have been blessed to pray for others and to be prayed for. Pastor and Gary, I have really appreciated these last weeks!! These have truly been "Light of Prayer" moments!!
Philippians 4:6-7
[6] Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. [7] And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Acts 1:14
[14] They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.
Acts 2:42
[42] They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.

Freedom | Jul 7, 2026
Freedom!
Now you know I could not do the squirrel video I sent yesterday without a message!
The message is simple. We were once captive to sin, but in Christ, we have been set free and no longer are under the penalty of death!
Freedom:
Slightly like the little guy, who will be set free in a better place today, we have been set free to a much better life in Christ!
We now have a much better life in freedom through Christ! Let us continue to grow and enjoy the blessings and promises we now share in our faith!
Galatians 5:13
[13] You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.
Galatians 5:1
[1] It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.
2 Corinthians 3:17
[17] Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

[31] To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. [32] Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

Where am I, and how did I end up here?
Where am I? Did you ever have that question ring in your mind while driving? I know I have had it ring in my ears, but as "where are we," and it is usually Kim asking the question because I was stubborn and did not even look at google Maps for directions! I thought I knew where I was going!
I remember one time when I was driving home to WVa, I ended up in downtown Indianapolis because I did not consult the map! It was not a good part of the city! You know this when you look around and start locking the doors!
Where am I:
Just like in life, we need a good copilot to intercede on the road for us, we need God’s Spirit to intercede for us when seeking guidance from God through prayer! Sometimes, we have to ask God, "Where am I - I don't know the way?" Please, spirit, intercede as I need help to get on the right road!
Romans 8:26-27
[26] In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. [27] And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.

Ouch!
Believe it our not I was thinking about the movie ET for this mornings message!
Was thinking about life for all of the believers and so many facing pain and issues in our lives! My own body reminds me more than I like lately!
Ouch?
As I tap my own chest and look to God, sometimes I just have to say Ouch!
Making the best of it as we walk through our valley!
Our great and dependable comfort!
The most wonderful thing about my trial is knowing God is using me and understands mine and everyone else's issues! It is more apparent to me now that he is always with me.
My point in all of this is to let us always keep God in focus even through our pain, and we will receive eternal comfort and see the wonders of his plan as we come through our trials!!

What if?
Truly reflecting on Jesus's power and authority, all you can do is say wow!
What if we witnessed Jesus do his healing?
We hear about what Jesus did, but do we really understand what Jesus did??
True Reflection!!
As I go into my 9th round of Chemo, the words " Trust and Obey ring in my ears! Ministry for God's kingdom must be the priority!
Reflecting on what Jesus was healing and how often he did it is mind-boggling?
Leprosy, blindness, lameness, bringing the dead to life .... Knowing the medical ramifications of what he did could not really be understood for that time!! Basically, restoring folks at the cellular level and much more!
What if?
It is easy to casually just say Jesus healed people, but let us truly reflect when we witness - JESUS HEALED MANY PEOPLE!!
Even the secular leaders of the time acknowledged what Jesus did!
This is such a powerful reflection of Jesus's authority and provides undeniable truth in history that Jesus is who he says he is!
Luke 7:21-22
[21] At that very time Jesus cured many who had diseases, sicknesses and evil spirits, and gave sight to many who were blind. [22] So he replied to the messengers, “Go back and report to John what you have seen and heard: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor.
